There is a reason why the Argentinians take a siesta for a few hours every afternoon; so they can party until sun up. The best nightlife in Argentina takes place in the larger cities such as Buenos Aries, but even the smaller villages will enjoy drinking and dancing to dawn.

The locals prefer to go out for the evening in large groups. Many of these groups will not get together until very late a night. The nightlife in Argentina begins with a chat over a few drinks at the local bar. The group will then head to a favorite restaurant for a long relaxing dinner. Do not be surprised to see families with young children dining out at 11pm or later. Once dinner is over the group normally heads to a cafe for coffee before going to the disco or nightclub sometime between 1-2am. The party begins Thursday evening and keeps going until sunrise Monday morning.

There are many types of nightclubs the for late night parties to enjoy. The younger crowds seem to prefer the nightlife in Argentina at the clubs that offer live electronic music. The 30 something groups like the live rock concerts while the older crowds prefer bars that play more traditional cultural music.

Alternative Forms of Entertainment for you to Enjoy

Not all nightlife in Argentina involves copious amounts of alcohol and loud sweaty dance floors. There are plenty of options available for those with more serene or sophisticated tasted. For example, the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aries offers weekend operas and classical music concerts. The Casa de Cultura in Salta is a great place to see a performance from the Salta Symphonic Orchestra. Salta is also one of the best cities to find concerts featuring traditional Argentinean music and dance. For the theater lover the nightlife in Argentina comes alive in the Avenida Correintes area in Buenos Aries. This district is home to a huge concentration of theatrical companies. The region of Cordoba also has a theater district popular among local theater fanatics.

The local cinema is also a very popular form of nightlife in Argentina. The largest cinema complexes are in Buenos Aries. Most of the top grossing movies from Hollywood are shown in the cities fairly quickly after their release. Many of these movies are actually in English with Spanish subtitles.

The final alternative form of entertainment is casinos. Many of the larger cities will have small casinos available for all types of gambling open around the clock.

Buenos Aries Clubbing

One of the primary party cities to enjoy nightlife in Argentina is Buenos Aries. The evening starts with dinner around 11 PM followed by a stop at one of the many outdoor cafes for coffee before heading off to the discos around 2am. The neighborhood of La Boca has some of the best bars and nightclubs while the San Telmo district is known for its tango bars. Popular areas for the Techno-House-Electronic music are the bars and nightclubs in Palermo and Recoleta. Keep in mind that the locals are not excessive drinkers. They will nurse a drink throughout the night.
